More second haircut pics

Tommy's Second Haircut

Also on my last day of summer vacation, we took Tommy in for his second haircut. It was a disaster. The haircut was really cute, and looks great on him. But, he screamed through the whole entire cut. His first haircut was perfect. He had barely even whimpered, but the second time must have been pure terror for the poor little boy.

It started off just fine; he was quite happy...

Tommy's first pair of shoes

The day before I went back to work, we were off for a day of fun. Tommy needed to get his first pair of shoes since he has been standing up and taking a few steps for the past couple of weeks. He holds onto furniture and walks ever so slightly, but he's getting there and making big strides daily!!

My mom and I took him to Big 'N Little shoe store in Munster. It's been around forever, and it's a cute little store that's mostly for kids. He got his feet measured. He measured a 5 wide and $50 later, he had a brand new pair of shoes!!

Tommy's first car

So, this was an impromptu purchase. I figured this would be better for him to roam around the house in. When he's "driving his car" he can't open all the cabinets, stove, etc., so this gives me a bit of freedom too. The car actually beeps. I was standing in his way last night, and he beeped his horn (coincidentally, I think) and Rich said, "He wants you to move." It was too funny! I did move out of his way, and he went scooting right past me. He gets around the house pretty fast in this thing!

Tommy and the entertainment center

Here is a picture of Tommy and our entertainment center. He loves to slide open the side door that holds DVDs. He opens it and closes it, pulls out DVD cases to suck on, and ultimately closes his fingers in the door (it doesn't smash them luckily...still don't quite understand how it doesn't). Finally, he loves to suck on the hardware. This should get interesting.

Learning to Stand

My mom's dogs were staying with us while they were vacationing, and so the extra dog cage in the living room was just the perfect size for Tommy to learn how to stand up...so this is what he did. Later, he ate the sticker off the front of the cage. Never fear, supermom swooped in and scooped it out of his mouth.

Trying his best to get it...

Yeah, I think this little "knick-knack" stand is going to have to be moved...if he could have scaled it and gotten to the top; he would have done so!

Exploring around the house

A few pictures of Tommy moving into the living room and foyer. And, of course, a picture of Winnie watching all the madness from her favorite stair on the staircase.

Tommy exploring the kitchen

He loves to crawl into the kitchen and get into EVERYTHING!!! My eyes have to be constantly on him!

10 Months and on the Move!

These few pictures clearly illustrate why babyproofing is necessary in our home. We took a ride to Babies R Us today to take a look at some gates to keep Tommy confined in the family room, but I didn't feel like spending over $200 on babyproofing materials, so I've decided to use the good old-fashioned "No" command. I'll babyproof anything that can severely harm him (like the stove) but if he pinches his fingers or something, he's going to learn the old fashioned way that he can't do that. I hope I don't sound cold-hearted, but honestly, if I were to babyproof everything it would be exepnsive, time-consuming, and just insane. I may change my tune, so don't hold me to this, but I am hoping it will be manageable if I keep my eye on him, use his playpen or walker when I can't keep my eyes glued on him, and just use common sense. So, enjoy the pictures of our little man exploring the house.

These days, Tommy is constantly on the move. He started crawling Saturday night, July 18th, in Louisiana when we were visiting my sister's family. He started off by taking very teeny tiny crawls, but now, a few weeks later, he is full-speed ahead! His favorite things to do are to crawl to the back door to sit by Winnie, crawl to the wine cabinet and open/close the door, crawl to the stove and open the bottom drawer, and crawl to the kitchen table and push/pull the chairs back and forth. He is very fast and definitely responds to "NO!"

Tommy has been pulling himself to the standing position for the past week now. He is starting to take very teeny tiny steps while standing up holding on to something, but that's about it...no full-blown walking yet. But, I think it's just around the corner.

He has two more bottom teeth coming in and four teeth on top coming in, so needless to say, this has made for some crabby nights...but he's still a little angel. He truly is the best baby, and I can't believe ten months have gone by since he has come into our lives. He is such a fun baby, and I make sure to laugh with him every day. I make a "spooky" laugh at him, and he loves it. It always makes him laugh. I love to kiss his chubby cheeks and make "munching" sounds while doing so; that also makes him laugh. Enjoy the pics...he's soooo much fun!

More Tommy and Winnie

Tommy LOVES to crawl to the back door and sit by Winnie. When I took these pictures Rich was working outside on a tree and Winnie was sitting by the door watching, then Tommy crawled over to join her, and they sat there for a good 20 min watching their daddy out in the yard.

Tommy and Lanie

Tommy and I have been having a busy summer!! (More about that in a later post...) But, one of the absolute highlights of our summer was meeting Miss Lanie Stiens!! It was a wonderful visit, and Lanie is just more precious than words can describe! Tommy was very interested in her and seemed to want to nibble on her. I can't wait to watch these two grow up!!
