Welcome Melanie Avery Stiens!!

Our very dear friends, Kristina and Eric, welcomed their first baby yesterday afternoon. Her name is Melanie Avery Stiens and they plan on calling her "Lanie." She was born Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 5:17 p.m. and weighed in at 8 lbs. 1 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. Both mom and baby are doing well and enjoying these very first precious hours together. Dad is holding up well too!

Kristina was one of my college roommates at Purdue in our sorority. It is extraordianry to think of us a few years back as college students, living it up and now we are mothers, raising sons and daughters. Everyone says that college is the best time of your life. I agree, it was pretty amazing, but I have to say that holding your newborn baby, and seeing thier first smiles, laughs, words, etc. beats good ol' college fun any day.

Kristina this is for you: I hope Lanie grows up to have such a wonderful friend like you are to me. I hope she understands that shamrock cookies rule, and that she will always have a friend to go with her to PP for BC then to RT for OS. May she enjoy many piddlin' days and appreciate boys who drive brown cars and live in brown houses. May she never find red hairs in a tanning bed that was supposedly cleaned by spiky hair chick. May she have a fashion sense that allows her to appreciate a purple snake-skin top, bargain shopping at Marshalls and TJ Maxx, and tastebuds that call for a pound of bacon on a sandwich, 3 grilled cheese sandwiches, rinsed down with blue drink and Finlandia. And of course, may she set off on many adventures in a car straight off the streets of Puerto Rico. But, most of all, may she laugh like we have laughed and may she find happiness in everything that she does!

Congratulations Mommy and Daddy Stiens on a lifetime of love with Lanie!

The Finished Product

Finally, the finished product. Isn't he just too handsome for words? What a litle man he is!

The Buzzer...

And finally, towards the end, she got the buzzer out to trim around his ears and the back. He whines a little bit, but never really cried. After about 20 seconds he was perfectly fine again! He really is the best baby!

More haircut pictures

Such a sweetie!!

Look at those chubby chubby cheeks!! He's too precious...

During the haircut

He was the perfect little angel! He got to sit in the "taxi cab" car and watched a Donald Duck video while he got his hair cut.

Right before the first haircut

Tommy was giving us the "stink eye." He knew we were going to cut off his precious locks. But, he was a true champion and behaved trememndously throughout the whole experience.
