Little baby is growing up!

Here are some pictures of our little guy quickly becoming a big boy! I caught a picture of him mid sneeze...loved that face he made. Next is a vertical pic of him looking devilishly handsome. Then we have some pictures of him proving to us that he is a big boy feeding himself his own bottle. (This has become something new this past week. He doesn't do it all the time...but he's doing it more and more...it breaks my heart.) Finally, a pic of him sucking on a roll...this was taken at winnie's birthday party. He didn't eat it, but really loved sucking on it. Yummy buttery flakes!

Bathtime

SO, we went from having a two hour start delay at LC to having NO SCHOOL(!) due to the sheet of ice that came last night and early this morning.

It's always nice to have an unexpected day off...but, I think this is our 6th (!) day off this year due to inclement weather, which means we'll be in school until mid-June. That sucks. But, oh well. What can you do...

In the meantime, I took this day as an opportunity to catch up on some cleaning, got my butt back to the gym, and gave little Tommy a bath in his duckie tub.

More 4 months pictures

Tommy enjoying some more tummy time.
A very sweet picture of Winnie and Tommy getting to know one another. Don't worry, I watch her like a hawk when she's near him...she's very gentle and loving towards him. She always put her toys on him when he's on the floor because she wants HIM to throw them for her.

4 months pictures

Tommy is getting very strong at holding up his head and is very very close to turning over. He almost did it last night, but crashed face down instead. Maybe tonight...

I've lost track of weeks....

I'm a bad mommy...I have lost track at how many weeks old Tommy is. Oh well.

In another week he'll be 5 months old. Can you believe that?

Anyway, this was a very busy week for you Tommy. You went on another plane ride to visit your Aunt Tara who is expecting her first baby in just a few more weeks! WE flew to Atlanta, Georgia, and then connected to Monroe, Louisiana where we were greeted by Aunt Tara! She had lots of hugs and kisses for you and took us back to her temporary apartment so the weekend of organizing and prepping for baby could begin!

You had a great time visiting with Aunt Tara and Uncle Matt, but unfortunately, you caught your very first cold. Mommy had bronchitis right before we had left and you caught it from me. It was pitiful watching you sneeze and cough...and you sounded terribly congested. It was heartbreaking. On Saturday (Valentine's Day) and Sunday you did a lot of crying and a lot of cuddling between all of us. You were a champ on the airplane rides home on Monday and we whisked you off to the doctor once we were home. You were diagnosed as having "brochiolitis" which is basically baby bronchitis.

It's now Wednesday, and you're looking and feeling 100x's better. Still not 100%...but getting close.

Mommy is thrilled right now because it was snowy and icy last night, and school was delayed 2 hours, so I can spend it updating everyone on your progress while you sleep.

You are still right under 18 pounds and you are getting so alert. I think you are starting to know and recognize your name. You have big smiles for mommy when I come home from work, and you are totally enamored by daddy when he's playing with you and holding you. You have also started laughing more and more frequently. I need to get a video of it, because it's the most precious sound ever!!

You're growing up so fast!! And I know you are so excited about getting to meet your new cousin soon! Before you know it, we'll be back on the plane going to meet him or her.

My wish

My Wish

This is the song Tommy and I danced to for the very first time ever during the mother/son dance at my good friend Julie's wedding...I never read the lyrics to this song before, so I finally did...and I can't think of any better song to capture how I feel about my little man.

By the way...Look how TINY he was...he's growing up so fast. He was about 10 days old in that picture.

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

This is my wish
I hope you know somebody loves you
May all your dreams stay big

Happy first Valentine's Day Tommy!! Mommy and Daddy love you more than you'll ever know.

??

I don't know how to flip those pictures around...anyone know??? help!

Eighteen weeks pictures

Some pictures of Tommy asleep on his boppy...sleeping with his mouth wide open catching flies...

And the other two are his first meal in his high chair. He didn't sit in it too long, but had about 5 spoonfuls of cereal in it. Yes, it's February and he's wearing a Thanksgiving bib...sorry! The poor baby goes through about 15 bibs a day, and this was the one on top of the bib pile.

Seventeen and Eighteen Weeks Old

Tommy, the past two weeks have been filled with so much fun and growing. You are smiling like crazy all the time now. You'll smile at just about anyone who comes up and talks to you. Your hair has continued to grow, and you have almost a full head of hair. Your eyes are still a beautiful blue...you are so handsome.

Since we got back from Florida, you've been on a pretty steady diet of rice cereal for babies, breastmilk, and some formula. You take the cereal right off of a spoon, which I think is pretty impressive! You open your mouth wide for the spoon and swallow most of your cereal.

I think you hit a sudden growth spurt lately, because you have outgrown a whole crop of clothes. Three-six month outfits are a bit small on you now, and you fit comfortably into the 6-9 month outfits.

This past Tuesday, you went back to the doctor for your 4 month well-visit and the second round of shots. You weighed in at 17.6 pounds (less than I thought you'd be)...I think that was in the 90th percentile...you were 25.4 inches long, and I forget your head measurement...either 42 or 52...honestly, I can't remember...sorry. I must have been too nervous about your shots to listen to all of your measurements. You did great with your shots...you turned purple and stopped breathing for a few seconds because you were crying so hard. But, other than that, you did fine. You did a lot of cuddling that night and a few whimpers...but, overall, you did well.

Tonight we started using your high chair for a few minutes. You still can't sit up on your own, but you did surprisingly well in your high chair. You ate some cereal in it, and then slumped over....so I moved you back to your baby papasan chair.

Mommy has done well adjusting being back to work, and you seem to be having a good time at Gammie's everyday. I'm still counting down the weeks and days until summer, so we can sleep in together, take long walks, get some sunshine, and see you grow into the sweetest, most intelligent little boy around!
